Summary[]

Fay Lucas asks Miss Mooney whether she can keep the hockey stick she is using for the trials later that day in the staff room, as they do not have lockers. Miss Mooney, however, says she can't as other members of staff will not be pleased about it. Annette is annoyed at Julie for joining in the conversation about the hockey stick, but Fay sticks up for her. Julie then tells Fay she can look after her hockey stick, as she has an injured toe which allows her to miss games. The two go off together leaving Annette looking sour.

Jonah and Zammo are walking to school, and Zammo pushes Jonah around on a shopping trolley. Zammo then sees one of the boys that took the badge from his blazer. The two begin to fight, and Jonah's trolley collides with some rubbish bags, causing him to fall into them. Jonah breaks up Zammo's fight with the other boy, who happens to be his cousin Jeremy that he had been talking about earlier. Jonah explains Jeremy is actually alright, and Jeremy agrees to get Zammo's badge back by lunchtime.

A new girl arrives in the classroom, and Mandy Firth and Sarah Wilks hope that the new girl is in the wrong room. Fay tells the girl she can't sit in her space, and Mandy tells Fay to use her hockey stick to whack her. The girl goes to move to another place, but Mandy and Sarah take that one too, and point her to the door. Whilst she is exiting, she bumps into Miss Mooney, who recognises her as the new girl, Diane Cooney. She notices she is shaking tells her that no one is going to hurt her. At that moment, Zammo and Jonah rush into the classroom, and bump into Miss Mooney.

In gym, the class are jumping over a wooden vaulting horse. Fay does a perfect jump. Whilst she is jumping, Mandy and Sarah pick on Diane again, teasing her about her gym clothes. Anette does not run fast enough and cannot get over the horse. Miss Mooney is at the door as Miss Saunders goes to speak to her, causing Mandy and Sarah to be chosen to help catch people coming off of the horse. Miss Mooney tells her that the hockey trials have been cancelled due to a governor's meeting. Whilst this is happening, it is Diane's turn to jump. However, instead of catching her Mandy and Sarah push her onto the ground. The two try to drag her to her feet, telling her to get up, but Fay and Annette come over to help Diane. At this point, Miss Mooney had noticed what is going on and notifies Miss Saunders, who goes over to check what has happened. Mandy tells her they couldn't catch her. In the changing room, Julie asks Annette why she is in such a bad mood, given the cancelling of the hockey trials doesn't affect her. Annette tells her that the trials are now on the same day as their field trip, and with Fay choosing to go to the trials instead, she will have to go alone. When Diane walks in, Mandy and Sarah again pick on her. Once again, Fay sticks up for Diane, telling the two that she saw that they pushed her. Mandy instead turns on Fay, telling her not to stick into others' business. Meanwhile, Annette hides Fay's hockey stick. They realise they have lost the hockey stick, and begin to search, but Miss Saunders comes in and tells them they don't have time. Annette asks whether she and Fay can come back to look for it at lunch instead, and she allows them to. Annette tells Julie that she won't be needed to help when she asks (after Annette tells Fay that's what 'real' friends are for). Miss Saunders also allows Mandy and Sarah when they ask if they can join in the search.

At Zammo's house, Jeremy has the badges. Jeremy and Jonah laugh about one of the teachers at Rodney Bennet, and Jonah suggests they go there for an afternoon and pretend to be in Jeremy's class. Despite trying to convince them that no-one will notice, the other two boys don't think it's a good idea. In the end, Jonah convinces them that if Zammo can go and be served in the shop he previously was kicked out of now that he has the Rodney Bennet badge, they will go to the school.

Mandy and Sarah hide in the changing rooms. Annette tells Fay she will go to the changing rooms to look whilst Fay goes to the gym.

Zammo is successful in buying from the shop so they head to the school. Zammo cannot remember the basic things Jeremy taught them, such as their form room, but Jonah insists it will be alright.

Annette goes and retrieves the hockey stick, but Mandy and Sarah step in and take it. They begin to throw around the stick whilst Annette tries to intercept it. The two girls think they might take the stick to the boiler room and that, if Annette were to call for Fay, they would tell her it was her that hid the stick. They go leave but, at that moment, Julie walks in. She takes the stick, and warns them not to tell Fay about it, or else she'll tell Miss Saunders that it was them who pushed Diane, and also that it was them who took the hockey stick. Julie tells Annette that she isn't going to tell Fay that she took the stick. She tries to convince Annette that she is not taking Fay away from her.

The three boys are at Rodney Bennet, but Mr. Baxter also happens to be there, collecting goalposts, and spots them. Jonah tells them they are getting a book off of Jeremy. Whilst Jeremy is getting said book, Mr.Baxter asks Jonah which book it is he's getting. Jeremy holds the book up to the window and Zammo spots it, saving the two of them. However, Mr. Baxter still makes them help with the goalposts. When Zammo says the book idea was smart thinking, Jonah replies that it was lucky Baxter didn't know Grange Hill pupils don't do German until 3rd year.
